Senior Center Knitting Lap Robes, Caps For Cancer Patients

- SHIRLEY METZGER IS THE LINCOLN SENIOR CENTER REPORTER.

Happy seniors.

What beautiful weather we have had. Does this mean we are starting an early fall? If not, at least maybe we will be over the hot hot stuff.

What a busy week we have had at the center.

We took a trip to Van Buren on the train. What a thrill that was. I just couldn’t adjust to those tressles with nothing under us but a few boards and air, but I survived them. I am sure God got a good chuckle out of that prayer.

We ask all kinds of things but I am sure “God, please get us across another tressle” isn’t one of them. After 74 years, I am sure he just rolls his eyes and says, “not her again.”

There were seven of us who entered things in the fair and we came out fairly well with several red, blue and white ribbons. It makes us want to make bigger and better things for next year.

Sally’s little grandson, Nathaniel, entered a calf and he won a trophy and one dollar. What an inspiration that is to a little toddler like him.

I don’t have a calendar yet so am not sure what is going on this week, but you can always call the center at 824-3861 and talk to Sally.

The TOPS group contin- ues on Tuesday mornings, and we are always struggling to become a “loser” and get those unwanted pounds off.

In our craft class, we plan to try to learn to knit and hopefully knit some lap robes and caps for the children cancer patients at St. Judes.

Also this past week Sally had one of her “My Way” bingo sessions. Most of you who know Sally know to expect anything that she comes up with. But it was another afternoon of fun times.

Well, hope you have a great week. Keep smiling, keep healthy and God bless.
