County Fairs Important To Residents
The counties around us have all been involved in their county fairs; and the last week of August was so important to the residents of Washington County. Getting animals ready for show, preparing fruits and veggies for competition, and creating items for the scholarship booth — just to name a few of the many jobs necessary to have a successful fair.
Attending the Benton County Fair the week before were Corbin and Betty Wood, who went to see their granddaughter Candace show her lamb.
The Clothesline Fair in Prairie Grove began on Sept. 1, and the Senior Center ladies and helpers parked cars across the road from Battlefield Park. This is a money-making project for

the center, and the money goes to the Meals on Wheels program.
As you probably know, this program helps so many citizens in our community by giving them delicious meals every day. Parking your cars in their lot during the threeday event was so helpful to the cause.
Mildred L. Carnahan and I were the only two Viney Grove grannies at the center on Thursday. Helen Hutchens had an appointment that took her elsewhere.
Shirley Prater has been enjoying the company of her son Mike, who is home on leave and spending the week with Shirley. You want to enjoy every minute of his time her. Other things can wait.
Taking a week off from the beauty shop, Ruth Dial and her daughter-in-law Jeanie Dial of Houston, Texas went to Roanoke, Va., to visit Ruth’s daughter, Melissa, and David Fox and family. Coming home, Ruth stayed several days with Jeanie and family, and was thrilled to see many of her greatgrandchildren.
This was a very special vacation, and we’re glad she had such a wonderful trip.
Enjoy the fairs and have a good week.
