Recycling At Harps On Sept. 10

- MARIE ROY IS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF LINCOLN AND HAS WRITTEN FOR THE ENTERPRISELEADER FOR OVER 30 YEARS.

Members of Sugar Hill Church plan their annual homecoming for this Sunday, Sept. 9. After church, they will enjoy their potluck dinner, followed by music and singing in the afternoon. All are welcome for Sunday school, church and afternoon events.

We are so fortunate to have a State Revenue Office in Lincoln. If there is any place in town that is busier than the library, it is the revenue office.

Having tried before to get my car license and found all chairs full, I decided Monday to “sit it out.” As I sat there, I was amazed at the calm and patience as Jeannie took care of each one as they applied for the license or whatever.

When it finally came my turn, only one lady was left in line. The office had been closed some time for lunch hour. I told her it would

only be a few minutes as I only was renewing my car license. Wrong! I handed Jeannie the papers and she said, “You haven’t assessed.” I had paid my taxes but I hadn’t assessed ( first time for everything).

Jeannie patiently called the Fayetteville office and assessed for me by phone, then a few minutes later, I had the renewal.

When I left the office, there were already several outside waiting for the office to open again. I wondered if Jeannie ever got a lunch break as it was almost 1 p.m. then. Thanks to Jeannie for her dedication.

September is here, starting reunions, fairs, festivals, and it is honey, chicken, potato, mushroom, rice and biscuit month (anyone hungry?). It is also fall hat, coupon and piano month, happy cat month and library sign-up month. Grandparents’ Day is Sept. 9 and the first day of autumn is Sept. 22.

Happy birthday to Myndi Dozier, Barbara Goolsby, Earl Crudup, Disa Almeta, Scott Meyer, Roy Moorman and twins Eric and David Snarr.

Happy anniversary to Tubby and Charlotte Shannon on Sept. 8, J.W. and Darlene Cheatham on Sept. 10, and Dean and Misty Cheatham on Sept. 12. Happy years, all. Remember recycling on Monday, Sept. 10.
