STILWELL, OKLA. — The much anticipated showdown between Lincoln and former Wolves’ quarterback, Cheyenne Vaughn, never materialized, yet Lincoln never lost their motivation and won 19- 0 over Stilwell, Okla. on Friday.

Vaughn, who garnered All-State honors at quarterback for Lincoln in 2010 and 2011, didn’t play and his replacement at quarterback, Drew Harris, tossed a touchdown pass as Lincoln went undefeated against teams from Oklahoma this season.

The Wolves beat Westville, Okla. 37- 0 on opening weekend and were on pace to match that scoring output when the contest was halted.

“They called the game at halftime due to lightening,” Drew Harris said, who now has two wins in two starts at quarterback as a sophomore.

“I think Drew played much more relaxed and confident than he did in week one, he threw and ran the ball effectively.” said Harris’ father and coach, Brad Harris.

Harris noted Drew was 5 for 8 passing, with 88 yards and a touchdown, and also ran the football 5 times for 49 yards.

Lincoln’s first score came on a 70-yard drive capped by a Dalton Simmons 5 yard touchdown run. The second score was also by Simmons on the opposite side of the ball with a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown. Lincoln’s third score was 36yard touchdown pass from Drew Harris to Alec Pitts as the Wolves built a 19-0 lead.

“All of the scoring was done in the first quarter,” Harris said. “We were sent to the locker rooms at the end of the first quarter for approximately 40 minutes, then returned to play the second quarter in a continuous rain.”

According to Harris, the tams tried to resume the game after halftime but the weather would not allow it and the second-half never was started. Harris said the game was called about 9:45 p.m.

“We played pretty good considering it was only one half of football,” Harris said.

Dalton Simmons had 11 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown, while Kaleb Ayers had 2 catches for 32 yards, Alec Pitts had 1 catch for 36 yards and a touchdown, and Nou Long Thao had 6 carries for 44 yards.

Harris said it should be another exciting game for the Wolves this week versus Dover.

“They are a solid team,” Harris said, noting he is good friends with their new head football coach.

“I know he will have them prepared for us this week,” Harris said. “We are excited to be 2-0 on the year.”

Kickoff is at 7 p. m. on Friday when Lincoln will take on Dover, their final non-conference opponent, of the regular season.
