Martin Attends Camp

Blake Martin from Farmington attended the Engineerin­g Summer Academy hosted by the College of Engineerin­g at the University of Arkansas. The one week session, from July 8-14, focused on science, engineerin­g, technology and math.

Students in the academy lived on campus and worked with University of Arkansas faculty and students, getting handson exposure to different engineerin­g activities. Students had a choice of engineerin­g fields to focus on: chemical engineerin­g, computer science and computer engineerin­g, and mechanical and electrical engineerin­g.

Martin took part in the solar boat program, working with other students to design and build remote-controlled solarpower­ed boats.

Martin is the son of Jacquelyn Scalf of Farmington.

Reed Gets Two Scholarshi­ps

Kory Reed of Morrow recently received two scholarshi­ps to help with college expenses.

Reed, a 2012 graduate of Lincoln High School, received a Chancellor’s Leadership Council academic scholarshi­p for $35,000 over four years.

The National FFA Organizati­on awarded a $1,000 Cargill Community Scholarshi­p to Reed.

The scholarshi­p is one of 1,539 awarded nationally.

Reed belonged to the Lincoln FFA, FBLA and numerous clubs while in high school. He is the son of Kenny and Tina Reed.
