Hendrix said that Spears immediately contacted the police about the threats and then called him. They decided at that time to order a lockdown. During a lockdown, students remain in their classrooms with the doors and windows secured. The custodial staff makes sure that all doors are locked and that no students are in the bathrooms.

“It was a threat and we take threats seriously,” Hendrix said. “My child is in eighth grade and I take care of the kids just like they are mine. I did what I would want any superintendent to do.”

The Lincoln Police Department removed the student from class and he was taken into custody. Hendrix said no weapons were involved and no one was injured.

The lockdown order was lifted and the day continued as scheduled. Lincoln High School was celebrating homecoming festivities Thursday and those activities went on as planned.

The high school includes grades 8-12. Lincoln Middle School and Lincoln Elementary School were not placed on lock down.
