October Brings Visitors

- Lincoln Lifestyles MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

The past weeks have seemed to slowly drag by, as I’ve wondered, prayed and waited for reports on the condition and hopefully progress, of family members and friends who were ailing.

Yet, September has suddenly ended and October brings our 37th annual Apple Festival and memories of former years when whole families gathered from their states and “came back home” for reunions. Memories also linger of the days when every farm was covered in apple trees, the main income locally.

October is a month of fairs, reunions and it is — national roller skating, dental hygiene, photographer appreciation, spinach lovers, popcorn poppin’, bake and decorate cookie, chiropractic, car care, family history and fire safety — month. This month also has special days — world teachers day, Columbus day, United Nation day, bosses day, sweetest day, motherin-law day, make a difference day and Halloween.

This year will be about the 30th Myers family reunion in the home of Charlie and Carol Pitts in Siloam Springs, the date is Saturday Oct. 27, all day.

Happy birthday to Darryl Sisemore, Russell Morphis, Rainy Laycox, Brian Roy, Janet Roy, Jeanine Tucker, Nell Wright, Elaine Jones, Ruth Parker, Maebelle Kirk, Elsie Hanger, Pam Jordan Emmalyn Johnson, Cindy Lyons, Joyce Bradley and Rusty Chambliss.

Happy anniversary to Mark and Nancy Martshing and James and Lillian Nash.

A friend called and wanted their names added to the birthday calendar but requested no dates be printed, because of con artists’ shady deals. If anyone does want their anniversary date printed, let me know.

Remember recycling next Monday.
