Kathleen Tackett

Kathleen Tackett, 82, of Prairie Grove fell asleep in death on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Washington Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Fayettevil­le to William Henry Cannon and Frances Josephine Cannon.

She was united in marriage to Bob Tackett on May 10, 1953. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmothe­r. Kathleen was a longtime earnest student of the Bible and a faithful servant of Jehovah God. She enjoyed sharing his kingdom message and the Bible truth with her friends and neighbors.

The Arkansas Historical Quarterly wrote a biography in the spring 2005 edition documentin­g Kathleen’s childhood experience­s regarding religious rights in the 1940s. With the support of her parents, she took a stand and exercised her right to practice freedom of religion, gathering support from Washington County to have smalltown public schools respect the rights of all its students and their beliefs. Kathleen Tackett was an extraordin­ary woman who had the ability to make friends and leave a great impression with everyone she met.

All of her family was with her at the time of her passing. She was, and always will be, loved by all. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Wayne Eugene Tackett; grandsons, Jason Randall Lininger and Robert (Bobby) Eric Tackett; and granddaugh­ter, Stephanie Mary-Kathleen Tackett.

She is survived by a son, Jim Bob Tackett; and three daugh- ters, Brenda Karol Lininger, Elizabeth Janice Richardson and Sheila Marie Copeland. She also has one brother, Keith Cannon; and her sister, Mary Mason. She was blessed with 12 grandchild­ren and 11 greatgrand­children, as well as three nieces, a daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law, all who loved and adored her.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located on Highway 71 at 454 N. Centennial Ave., West Fork, AR 74774.

A memorial talk was given by Michael Meche.

Cremation arrangemen­ts were under the direction of Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayettevil­le.

Marie S. Oliver

Marie S. Oliver, 84, a resident of Prairie Grove, went to be with her Lord on Jan. 9, 2013. She was born March 22, 1928, in Greenland, the daughter of Oran and Flora Hankins Shackelfor­d.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Oliver and wife Jan of Fayettevil­le and David Oliver of Joplin; one daughter, Janet Moten of Siloam Springs; one brother, Tiny Shacklefor­d of Fayettevil­le; ve grandchild­ren, Kayla, Tracy, Tammey, Dustin, and Ashley and eight great grandchild­ren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Jan, 12, 2013, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial was in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.

Arrangemen­ts were by Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Kenneth E. Smith

Kenneth E. Smith, 90, a resident of Lincoln, passed away Jan. 11, 2013. He was born March 10, 1922, in Eureka Springs, Ark., the son of Frank and Selia Mae Gosvener Smith.

Kenneth was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Smith and three brothers, Bob, Cecil and Junior.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Smith; one son, Tommy Smith of Prairie Grove and ve stepchildr­en; six brothers, Richard Smith and Ike Smith both of Neosho, Mo., Gene Barker of Neosho, Mo., Charles Barker of Granby, Mo., Frank Smith of Dayton, Ohio, and Wes Smith of West Fork; four grandchild­ren, four great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to express their appreciati­on to Sam and Leshia Holcomb and Circle of Life Hospice for the excellent care given to Kenneth.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 67 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Luginbuel Chapel. Burial was in Mineral Springs Cemetery in West Fork.

Gladys Marie Hess

Gladys Marie Hess, 81, a resident of Springdale passed away Jan. 13, 2013, in Fayettevil­le at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. She was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Springdale the daughter of Oscar S. and Bessie E. Cohea Harlan.

Gladys and Albert Bernard Hess met at Farmington High School, later married and lived in several cities in Arkansas, including Fayettevil­le, Fort Smith, Little Rock and Hickory Ridge. They then moved to Columbia, Mo., and later to Broken Arrow, Okla. Finally they moved back to Springdale where they retired in 1996.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Mildred Warford of Fayettevil­le and Lois Doster of Farmington.

Gladys had been a member of three churches in Northwest Arkansas, Unity Baptist in Farmington, Elmdale Baptist and First Landmark Baptist Churches of Springdale.

Survivors include two sons, Daryl Hickman and wife Ginger of Springdale, Rex Hess and wife Sue of Champaign, Ill.; two daughters, Dena Kroll and husband Ken of Columbia, Mo., and Lynette Hess of Arlington, Texas; ve grandchild­ren and eight great grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove with Pastor Dwight Gonzales and Todd Anderson of ciating. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery near Viney Grove. No graveside services will be held at the cemetery.
