Lincoln City Aldermen Take Oath Of Office

LINCOLN — The Lincoln City Council was sworn-in by Mayor Rob Hulse at the beginning of its Jan. 14 meeting.

Robin Moore took the Ward 1 Position 2 seat for the first time. Robin Moore is the wife of Alderman Doug Moore. They are the first married couple to serve on the council at the same time.

Alderman Doug Hutchens gave a capital improvement report, stating the city’s sales tax revenues for December were $16,660.86. The library’s sales tax revenues were the same amount as the city’s revenues with debt service account receiving $10,664, library account $7,186 and parks and recreation $1,796.

City Manager Chuck Wood praised Rhonda Hulse, water officer manager and grants writer, for the latest $45,000 fun park grant the city is receiving from Arkansas Parks and Tourism Department.

“We’re privileged to have Rhonda bring in $128,122 in grant funds for the city,” Wood said. “We’ve never done that before.”

Hulse said the city’s ball field netting should be put up in the next couple of weeks in time for baseball season.

Mayor Hulse thanked the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, local churches, American Legion, Lincoln Senior Center and volunteers for making Christmas on the square the “best yet” event.

Hulse also thanked Tyson Foods for the chicken that was donated for the event.

“I would like to thank my staff,” Hulse said. “I ask a lot of them and they always come through.”

Hulse said city officials had been meeting with architect Bret Park on the new library.

“There are a lot of things going on in Lincoln with new library and this new park. We have a bright future,” Hulse said.

Wood said a special meeting would be called to go over the 2013 budget before the end of the month.
