Activities Set For February

- Lincoln Senior Center SHIRLEY METZGER Center Reporter

LINCOLN — Happy February, seniors. What a fun month this is as we remember those special folk whom we love. No need to spend lots of money, just a simple call or visit with a “Hey, I love ya,” can really mean a lot sometime.

We are starting out the month on Feb. 7 with a neat information program on Wellness with Angie Dunlap. It is not a physical fitness program but more of a state of being. Come on down to the Lincoln Senior Center for this, you might find you’re interested in the concept of it all.

On Monday, Feb. 11, is Bingo at Chick-fil-A, so come on down, hop in the van, have a fun couple of hours and win prizes too.

Tuesday, Feb. 12, is a potluck and Misfit Dance. Although this is in the next week, Chantal Karnes is coming with Valentine cookies for us to decorate and enjoy on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Sugar cookies with icing can’t be beat. They are delicious. What fun it will be showing off our own creative decorating. Join in on the fun at 10 a.m.

On Monday, Feb. 18, we will be closed to observe Presidents Day. We’ve sure had some wonderful ones down the line. My very favorite was JFK and his assassination was such a shock. My son was 4 years old and got mad because they took cartoons off the TV to show the coverage of the assassination. I tried to explain it to him as easy as I could. Then he cried to know little John was left without a daddy. My, so much sadness in this world then and now. But our faith always seems to get us through.

Senior games will be coming up in May, at Harrison. What a fun time that is so put that on your calendar. More on that later.

Well, dear hearts, have a great week, Keep healthy, keep smiling and God bless you and yours.
