Academy Holds Sweetheart Banquet
MORROW — Morrow Valley Christian Academy Sweetheart Banquet was held Feb. 22, 2013, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Westville, Okla.
Ryan Yancy welcomed everyone to the banquet and led pledges to American and Christian flags and the Bible.
Brother Ronnie Cooper blessed the food, which included brisket, chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, hot rolls, salad, dessert and beverages. After everyone had enjoyed the meal, Xavier Newman sang “Just Do Your Little Part.” He was accompanied by Ronnie and Anita Cooper, George and B.J. Bareis playing kitchen pot drums and wooden spoons as rhythm instruments.
Sister Carolyn Latta’s kindergarten class sang, “O Beautiful For Spacious Skies,” “Onward Christian Soldiers” and quoted Psalm 23. The rest of the student body joined them in singing “I Want A Servants Heart,” led by Principal Sister Danaye Hunt.
Poetry recitations were given by Shelby Hall, “One Day At A Time,” and Leah Provence, “In His Sandals.”
Larry Newman, Mark Latta and Christian Hall provided more entertainment on guitar and mandolin, playing “Amazing Grace.”
The Reverend Terry Guthrie was the speaker and read from Revelation 2:4 about losing your first love.
He talked about keeping one’s excitement, adding some things are worth working for to keep that excitement fresh and vibrant for marriage, family and God.
Ken and Mary Butler were honored with a gift for being married 63 years. Michael and Tia Stephenson were honored for being newlyweds.
The academy’s prince and princess for 2013 were Jackson and Jasmine Ray; king and queen were Aareyon Newman and Ashley Seals.
Brother Dwendel Silcox was the auctioneer for selling homemade pies and other goodies.
MVCA thanks everyone for donations, attendance and support for the school. We also thank everyone who purchased Blue and Gold meat to help our school.
