Lincoln Residents Help At Hogeye Marathon

- SHIRLEY METZGER Center Reporter

Happy Spring, seniors, but as I am writing this, it is pouring outside and freezing. You can't fool Mother Nature but she sure can fool us. Just try to stay warm and dry and be prepared for whatever comes tomorrow.

I thought this was Kansas weather, but it still isn't as harsh as Kansas is, so no complaints from this writer. My mother always told me no matter the weather on May 1st, I could go barefoot. Well, a time or two it was pretty cold. I think I am a little old to try it now, so I think I will just keep my shoes and socks on.

Roy Gene Rinehart, Pat Parrish, Sally Metcalf and I all helped hand out snacks for the runners in the Hogeye Marathon last week. What fun that was and we met a lot of interesting people. There were folk out there from all ages who were running and keeping fit. The oldest one I heard about was a gentleman who was 78 years-old. He had the endurance and stamina to keep right on. He ran the complete 26 miles.

Senior games are here in a few days. We will be traveling to Harrison to see how much we can endure and what fun we can have. Hopefully, we will all win a ribbon this year. Good Luck, participants.

I am still doing the recycle program to earn extra cash for the Meals On Wheels program. I take ink jets, cartridges and old cell phones so remember to get those to the center for recycling. No toner cartridges please.

Activities continue at the Lincoln Senior Center and the delicious meals as well. Hope to see you here soon.

Have a great week, keep smiling, keep healthy and God bless you and yours.
