Vet Has 26 Years Experience
FARMINGTON — Dr. Tim E. O’Neill with Country Veterinary Service was the first vet in this area to perform adult stem cell and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapies as alternatives to surgery and to speed healing time.
The clinic has six employees, including O’Neill. Kim O’Neill is the office manager and Amanda Moncrief is the assistant office manager. Tracy Lester is barn help, and Tina Cotten and Gary Osbourne are vet assistants.
Country Vet is located at 12377 Jimmy DeVault Road and is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MondayThursday, 8-noon on Fridays and Saturdays.
Regenerative medicine through stem cell therapy is the process of harvesting stem cells from an animal’s fat and concentrating them. The stem cells are then put back into the animal to heal a problem. For PRP therapy, blood is drawn from the patient and concentrated in a small amount of plasma. The concentrated blood is then injected into the animal to heal a problem.
These are alternative methods to surgical repair and chronic drug therapy. The methods are less invasive than many surgical treatments and more cost effective than many other treatments. Reduction in pain may be seen as early as one week.
O’Neill has been practicing small and large animal veterinary medicine for 26 years and has been in his current location for about 13 years.
He is a “dying breed” in that he is a male vet who works with both small and large animals. More and more vets are women these days and few take care of both large and small animals. His practice is about 60 percent small animals, though, and that’s because more people are selling their cattle, horses and other large farm animals.
He’s also one of the few veterinarians who does farm and house calls.
The motto for the clinic is “Quality Preventive Medicine” and O’Neill and his staff treat patients and owners like family.
O’Neill is a big supporter of local rescues and loves to work with the area rescues. One constant at the clinic is Charlie, a chocolate lab, and sometimes rescue animals are on the premises.
The clinic’s phone number is 479-267-2685 and the fax number is 479-267-5633.
