SUPERINTENDENT TO TAKE POSITION AT SPRINGDALE DISTRICT
LINCOLN — Clay Hendrix, superintendent of Lincoln Consolidated School District, turned in his resignation early Friday morning.
“It is with mixed emotions we announce the resignation of Clay Hendrix,” said Dax Moreton, president of the Lincoln School Board in a press release. “Clay has been part of the district for eight years holding roles of increasing responsibility and has served well in his current role as superintendent for the past year. We are sad for our school district upon his leaving but support him in his future endeavors.”
Hendrix said Monday he had made the decision based on what would be best for his family.
“I have had eight tremendous years in Lincoln,” Hendrix said. “I’ve been given opportunities greater than I could have imagined, but I have to do what’s right for my family.”
According to Rick Schaeffer, communications director for the Springdale School District, Hendrix applied for a new position with the school and was expected to be hired for the position at the Springdale School Board’s May 14 meeting. If approved, Hendrix would be the district’s assistant superintendent for innovations, technology, STEM and accountability, Schaeffer said. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
“Obviously, his technical skills are outstanding,” Schaeffer said, adding, “This position is ideal for him.”
“I’m excited about an opportunity at Springdale,” Hendrix said. He would begin work at the Springdale district on July 1.
Hendrix was hired as superintendent of the Lincoln district in December 2011 after the resignation of Frank Holman.
Lincoln school board plans to post the open position immediately and begin the search for a new superintendent.
“Our plan is to conduct a thorough search and hire the most qualified candidate for the district in a timely fashion,” said Moreton.
The Lincoln district has 1200 students with 200 faculty and staff.
