GRACE Place Thanks Volunteers

- By Shirley Metzger

LINCOLN — Greetings, GRACE Place volunteers, supporters and clients, I just returned home from the first annual volunteer appreciation luncheon and am still all bubbling from the message and excitement of the day.

And not to mention being “stuffed” from all the delicious goodies that were donated. What a wonderful way Joy Thomas had to thank all the volunteers for their 6,419 recorded hours of volunteer work. And to thank all the businesses here in this beautiful little city of Lincoln for their donations, not only for this activity but for their continued support as well.

You know, God has not only accepted this ministry but He is allowing us, the volunteers and supporters, to take it and run with it. And there is no idea of where it can lead us. We served 8,703 individuals in the year of 2012, but best of all we had 13 salvations and 4 rededication’s to the Lord.

The businesses who donated door prizes were Dr. Beaver’s and Dr. Hall’s offices, Bell Pharmacy, Simmons and Arvest banks, Lincoln and Westville Harps, Lincoln Library, Kut Above, Cathy’s Place, Cowboy Cuts, Leroy’s Barber shop, Four Rose’s Antiques, Double J, Poorman’s, Family Dollar, Dollar General, O’Riley’s, American Drive In, City Café, Burgerland, Pinkerton’s, One Stop, Quickaway, Simple Simon’s, Lincoln Public School, Lifesource International, Prairie Grove Walmart, NWA Food Bank, United Way, Hope Distributors, Little Debbie’s and Rice Depot.

So do you see what I mean when I said God allowed us to take GRACE Place and run with it. He has touched so many hearts you can’t count them all. And He is bringing the community together with their love, caring and sharing for others. When we are working for The Lord, no thank yous are needed, but the recognition, the food and the neat door prizes sure were appreciated and what a wonderful excuse for a party.

See you next year!
