Prayers Said For Those Suffering Loss, Surgery

- By Marsha Hedge CHURCH REPORTER — M.S. Lowndes MARSHA HEDGE HAS CONTRIBUTED CHURCH ARTICLES TO THE ENTERPRISE LEADER FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

A beautiful, sunny morning was waiting for all on this Mother’s Day Sunday. Visitors are always a joy at Central United Methodist in Lincoln, especially around the holidays.

We welcomed back the Lunsford’s following their vacation and Mary Alice Pitts following her recu- peration period from knee replacement. Others in the congregation are recovering from recent procedures and we hold those who have suffered loss close to our hearts.

Opening hymn was “O Worship the King.”

Call to Worship was from Psalm 97. Scripture reading was John 17:20-26.

The congregation joined in “O Come Dwell in Me.” The choir sang “Shall We Gather at the River.” Marty Lunsford presented a solo vocal and led Children’s Moment about “Honor your father and your mother” with her two grandsons who were visiting.

The Rev. Gary Lunsford presented “To Be One” taken from John 17. To be one as a Christian community, our focus must remain centered on God and Jesus Christ.

Altar Call was “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.”

Happy Birthday this week to June Wood and Lee Munyon. Thought for the week: May God’s many blessings Be yours forever more And may you know you’re valued And loved by the Lord Especially on this day That we have set aside To show our appreciation

To the Mothers in our lives.
