- By Pat Harris

LINCOLN — A search has begun for a new superintendent of the Lincoln Consolidated School District after the resignation of Clay Hendrix, 33, who will move to the Springdale School District.

Lincoln School Board agreed on May 14 to a job posting and timeline suggested by Kendra Moore, vice president.

Board members approved posting the job immediately on state websites such as the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators, Arkansas Department of Education and Arkansas School Board Association, as well as the Lincoln district’s website and a couple of national websites.

Applications will be due by May 30.

“That will give us two weeks to get applications in,” said Dax Moreton, president. “Our plan is to conduct a thorough search and hire the most qualified candidate for the district in a timely fashion.”

The school board plans to review applications on June 4 and start interviews around June 10.

Hendrix has been hired in the Springdale district as assistant superintendent for innovation, technology, STEM and accountability beginning July 1.

Hendrix has been with the Lincoln district for eight years. His resignation will be effective June 30.

Board members expressed a desire to find a superintendent as soon as possible, perhaps by the middle of June.

Hendrix worked as facilitator of the EAST program, assistant superintendent and assumed the superintendent’s position in December 2011 after the retirement of Frank Holman. He helped oversee the completion of Lincoln High School, which opened in August at the beginning of the 2012-13 school year.

Hendrix has made a large contribution instituting the New Tech system in the Lincoln district.

“Obviously, his technical skills are outstanding,” said Rick Schaeffer, communications director for Springdale district.

The Springdale School Board voted May 14 to hire Hendrix.

Board members approved the rehiring of all classified personnel after an executive session.
