George ‘Buddy’ Rowan Horah

George “Buddy” Rowan Horah, of New Florence, Mo., passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 . Buddy succumbed to injuries that he received in an automobile accident, Nov. 29, 2012. He was surrounded by his family and left this world peacefully after a long battle and gallant efforts to save his life.

George enjoyed working on his farm and was an avid sherman, and a lifetime cattle enthusiast of the Hereford breed. He was a devoted husband, father and friend to many. Buddy was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served with the “Fighting Razorbacks” of the 936th Field Artillery Battalion. He worked for the Western Electric Company for 32 years and retired as a supervisor with the teams that establishe­d phone service to much of rural Missouri. He moved his family to the farm in New Florence in 1971, where he lived until his death.

Buddy was born in Prairie Grove, Ark., on Aug. 30, 1930, the son of Edward and Violet (Vandever) Horah. He had one younger brother, Phillip.

Buddy and his soul mate Loma D. Hays were married on Feb. 27, 1952, in Prairie Grove, Ark., and raised a daughter, Janette, and a son, David.

George is survived by a daugh- ter Janette Johnson of Montgomery City, a son David Harah of New Florence, a granddaugh­ter Samantha Smith of Montgomery City, two grandsons Matthew Smith & family of Nimy Hainaut, Belgium, and Travis Harah of Norwich, Conn. and two great-grandchild­ren, Kyla and Aiden Smith of Belgium, plus many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, both parents and his brother.

A memorial service to celebrate his life and say farewell will be held at the Baker-Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Florence, Mo., at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013.

Mattie Leona Brown

Mattie Leona Brown, age 93, a resident of Omaha, Ark., passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in Branson, Mo. She was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Prairie Grove, Ark., the daughter of John Oscar and Tennie Ann McCelland Cavin.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Gene Kenyon of Omaha, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Rhonda and David Manglos of Stafford, Va., Clark and Amy Campbell of Mans eld, Texas; two great-grandchild­ren, Maggie Campbell and Seth Campbell; three stepdaught­ers and seven stepgrandc­hildren.

Memorial service was held May 25, 2013, at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark., with burial in the Sharp Cemetery in

Prairie Grove.

Holley Starr Madewell

PRAIRIE GROVE — Holley Starr Madewell, 27, of Prairie Grove passed away May 14, 2013, in Prairie Grove. She was born June 16, 1985, in Fayettevil­le, the daughter of Daniel Madewell Sr. and Tammy Holley Madewell.

She was a home-health caretaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Madewell Jr.; grandparen­ts, Edgar and Opal Madewell and Wanda Sena.

She is survived by her father, Daniel Madewell Sr. and wife, Lourdes, of Rogers; her mother, Tammy Alvarado and husband, Jesus, of Springdale; her children, Sandra Michelle Madewell and Daniela Estrella Alvarado; her sister, Tammy Madewell and husband, Uriel Espino, of Elkins; paternal grandfathe­r, Monroe Holley; nephews, Erik Ortega, Danny Espino and Andrew Madewell; and niece, Jordan Madewell.

Funeral services were held May 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rogers, Ark., with Bishop Erik Brown of ciating. Interment followed in the Mount Comfort Cemetery, Fayettevil­le.
