Center’s Leader In Hospital

- Lincoln Senior Center SHIRLEY METZGER Center Reporter

Good Morning, seniors at Lincoln Senior Center.

Well, Elkins was here for the beanbag games. They won one and we won one, so it sounds like we are all just pretty good bean baggers. Congratulations to all and once again, thanks to Elkins’ seniors for the fun times.

The center continues on an even keel thanks to all the wonderful volunteers out there.

Those who have not heard, our leader, Sally Metcalf, is in the hospital and scheduled to have some pretty major surgery, so please remember her in your prayers. For someone who is never sick and rarely misses work, this is a real trauma on Sally. Let’s all pray for a speedy recov- ery for her so she doesn’t have too long for going “stir crazy” or having major cabin fever.

Meanwhile we will keep going with regularly scheduled activities and will let you know more as we can.

Here it is the first of June already. The year is half over and we’ll soon be thinking of Applefest, the holidays and Christmas.

The crochet class is once again crocheting an afghan to raffle off during the Arkansas Apple Festival. It is a flower garden pattern and the squares that some of the expert crocheters have done, are really pretty. I am just a beginner and anxious to learn how to do one. More on this later.

Pass the word to one and all to come into the center and enjoy the delicious meals, games and socialization. I was in the Farmington area recently and tasted one of their meals and it was real good. I have also eaten at senior centers in Kansas at my sister’s and they aren’t bad either. At least they are balanced and great for all who don’t want to cook or are unable to do so.

Have a great week, keep smiling, keep healthy and God bless you and your family and friends.
