Morrow Academy Holds Awards Ceremony

MORROW — The Morrow Valley Christian Academy held its awards ceremony on May 3 at Mount Pleasant Church.

Principal Danaye Hunt welcome those attending and the Rev. Brett Crawford began the ceremony with a prayer.

Pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible were led by Mark Latta with the kindergart­en class following with “Star Spangled Banner.”

Kindergart­ners quoted Psalm 1:1-6 and sang “Sound the Battle Cry” and “Onward Christian Soldiers.”

Sister Danaye asked school children some school trivia questions such as:

Who sang, “Yes, Yes, Yes,” the Bible’s true before every Bible story? Answer: Sister Carolyn Latta.

Who is known for selling peanut brittle, dessert trays and fundraisin­g of all kinds? Answer: Sister Rachael Denny.

Who always says, “Where is your homework?” Answer: Sister B.J. Bareis

Who says, “May I have your attention please?” Sister Danaye Hunt.

Hunt acknowledg­ed all the teachers and monitors of MVCA: B.J. Bareis, Rachael Denny, Brenda Hunt, Amber Bradshaw and Carolyn Latta. She also recognized board members, Brett and Annie Crawford, Jack and Edna Smith, George and B.J. Bareis; and all parents who had children at the academy.

Students receiving A honor roll trophies included Megan Bareis, Trey Bradshaw, Ashley Seals, Travis Seals, Ryan Yancey, Jeremiah Olinghouse and Scott Brown.

Trophies present to B honor roll: Xavier Newman, Mark Latta, Aareyon Newman, Larry Newman, Derick Bareis, Shelby Hall and Branden Olinghouse.

Aareyon Newman received the perfect attendance trophy.

Trophies for the most PACEs completed went to: Trey Bradshaw, lower learning center, and Brandon Olinghouse, upper learning center.

Trophies were given to the highest overall average at the Upper Learning Center. Recipients were Shelby Hall, Ryan Yancy and Megan Bareis.

Ryan Yancey, Travis Seals and Trey Bradshaw received the highest overall average trophy at the Lower Learning Center.

Latta presented the kindergart­en class with trophies and certificat­es of completion. They included Shaylee Bradshaw, Kyle Yancey, Jessica Jetton, Isabella Dobbs, Jackson and Jasmine Ray.

Hunt recognized students who were going to Accelerate­d Christian Education (ACE) Internatio­nal Student Convention held in May at Warrensbur­g, Mo. Those students included Larry and Aareyon Newman, Mark Latta, Christian and Shelby Hall and Leah Provence.

Shelby Hall is memorizing the Book of Proverbs for ISC.

Brother John Lat ta dismissed the ceremony with a prayer.
