Sammie Jo Moore is a candidate for 2013 Miss Lincoln Riding Club princess.

Sammie Jo is the 9-yearold daughter of Clayton and Silvia Moore, of Leach, Okla. She attends Leach Elementary where she is on the A and B honor roll. Sammie Jo was Student of the Month in October 2011 and January 2013; voted Class Favorite at school 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013; received Little Miss Brave in 2008, and won 2012 Princess.

Sammie Jo hopes to be a veterinarian when she gets older and plans to attend the University of Arkansas. Sammie is very active in church. She loves going to church and helping with little children in the nursery. She loves playing softball and basketball is her favorite.

She enjoys taking care of all of her animals at home, going to 4-H shows and showing her chickens, rabbits and goats. She has won many awards showing her animals.

Sammie Jo has been riding horses for six years. She has always had a passion for queening, rodeos and playdays. She wants to be a good Christian role model whom others can look up to. Her horse is a 13-year-old AQHA gelding named Thumper.

Sammie Jo thinks Thumper is an awesome cutting horse and believes he has a great handle on everything she asks him to do and takes good care of her. He has helped her win numerous prizes and Sammie Jo said she could have never done that without her mom and dad supporting her.

“Rodeo has always been part of my family. I have been competing in rodeo since the age of four and have loved every second of it,” Sammie Jo said. “I started at a very young age doing peewee barrels on my old faithful horse with the crowd cheering you on, there’s no feeling like it. Rodeo, it is just one of life’s blessings and it is by far my favorite hobby.”

“Lincoln is a wonderful little town that I love to come to and visit. I am very eager to get more kids involved with rodeo, royalty pageants, playdays and other related events to keep them out of trouble.”

Sammie Jo is determined to show contestants and all others good sportsmanship and be there if someone is in need.

“I know I am only nine years old but have always had a passion for little children and babies. I would love to teach them and learn them about horse showing, rodeos, pageants and good sportsmanship,” Sammie Jo said.

Sammie Jo’s ambition is to teach about having a positive attitude and instill confidence in youngsters they can do anything if they work hard and put their heart and mind into it.

What Sammie Jo hopes to receive from this experience is meeting new friends, teaching people and young ones all about the sport of rodeo. She is also looking forward to carrying the flag and traveling to different playdays, rodeos and parades.

“Representing the Lincoln Riding Club Rodeo would be an honor for me,” Sammie Jo said.

Sammie Jo has won numerous rodeo awards including: 2009 Locust Grove 6 and under ride alone playday champion saddle; 2010 -Locust Grove reserve playday champion and ages 6-8 buckle; Delaware County fair 8 and under rider champion trophy; 2011 - Locust Grove playday Champion 6-8 saddle; second overall at Colcord playdays; OJRA third overall in barrels and goats buckles; average champion at the OJRA finals for which she won tack; 2012 - reserve playday champion Locust Grove buckle; OJRA 8 and under barrels saddle; OJRA 8 and under third in poles and goats buckle; Delaware County 8 and under rider champion trophy winner.
