Now, there are four little “peepers” under my mailbox, keeping company with the “hens and chicks” plant their nest is resting on.

Though for some reason I have had no robins this year, the mocking birds have kept me company instead. They hop up near to me, turn their head and cheep. While the mother has been sitting on her eggs, I go to the mailbox and paper box and she doesn’t fly away. Wednesday, Allee spent the day with me and each time she went near the box, the bird flew away — she was a stranger to them.

I enjoyed a short visit with Bonnie Watson and her friend as we had lunch together. They were here from Burleson, Texas, for an extended weekend for an annual Waldrop family reunion at the home of Gary Waldrop on Gem Mountain.

A camp- out is planned for the night of June 21 at the Hacker farm on Tyree Mountain for the youth and their chaperons of Sugar Hill Church. Each one be sure to bring a sleeping bag and cot.

In pastor Rick Reed’s sermon Sunday, he stressed the danger of pretending to be something we’re not, and I thought of the following, which while meant to be a joke, is a good example…

In heavy traffic, a woman showed real road rage, gesturing and yelling at other drivers.

When a trooper stopped her, she said, “I couldn’t have been speeding in this stupid traffic.”

After confirming her valid license and vehicle ownership, he said, “When you made those very improper gestures and yelled like you did, when I saw your bumper sticker, ‘I love Jesus,’ I thought you had stolen this car.”

Happy birthday to Melissa Little, Bill Glidewell, Kelley Loftin, Cutter Cruikshank, Edward Bradley, Jean Myers, Betty Cameron, Adriana Barbosa, Weston Butler,

Happy anniversary to Wendall and Teresa Pershall, Ronne and Mary Rinehart, Kenny and Deby Bailey. Happy years, all! Remember recycling next Monday.
