Fathers Remembered At Church Service

- By Marsha Hedge CHURCH REPORTER MARSHA HEDGE HAS CONTRIBUTE­D CHURCH ARTICLES TO THE ENTERPRISE­LEADER FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

A nice rain shower Saturday night, preceded a very nice Father’s Day morning. Fathers of all types from the present and past were remembered at Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln. The Opening Hymn was “This is My Father’s World.”

• Announceme­nts made included: Bonnie Wood is working on some tornado/ flood relief buckets for the church to donate. Please check with her if you have items to donate.

• The stairwell is really taking shape with the handrail. There is more work to be done on it and those wishing to volunteer to help with sanding and staining may see the Rev. Gary Lunsford.

• Valerie Dawson is making plans for the Back- to- School Backpack Program. Please let her know if you can assist her with this program.

The Women’s Group will meet at the home of Jo Welch on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Abby Bowers celebrated a birthday recently.

Roger and Mary Alice Pitts will be celebratin­g their wedding anniversar­y this week.

Call to Worship from Psalm 5 was led by Marty Lunsford. Scripture Reading was Luke 7:35-8:3. The congregati­on joined in “Faith of Our Fathers.” The Choir sang “Joy Unspeakabl­e.” Diane Moorman led Children’s Moment.

The Good News message from Luke 7 was presented by the Rev. Lunsford. This was the story of Jesus anointed by the sinful woman. “Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Altar Call was “To God be the Glory.”
