Lincoln Athletes Receive Honors
LINCOLN — The Lincoln athletic program enjoyed numerous successes during the 2012-2013 school schedule.
In the fall, the Wolves’ football team narrowly missed state playoffs and the volleyball program began a new era with Adrian Risley as first-year head coach.
The senior high Wolves’ co-ed cheer squad placed in the top 12 during the Class 4A-1A 2012 state cheer championships held at Hot Springs Convention Center on Dec. 15. Lincoln finished in the 12th position with 254.5 points. Heber Springs won the competition with 335.5 points. Other 4A-1 schools placed, including Pea Ridge in second place with a score of 327 and Gravette, seventh with 295.
During the winter, the Lincoln boys basketball team earned a trip to state as the only representative of the 4A-1 Conference. The girls were competitive on the hardwood as well, finishing in a tie for second place in the 4A-1 standings.
In the spring, Lincoln’s baseball squad was very competitive in league play. The Wolves reached the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
The Wolves had a repeat state champion in Track and Field with Nikki Thordsen winning the 4A triple jump title after taking the 3A crown in 2012. The following is a list of athletes who earned accolades and were recognized for their various achievements in their sporting endeavors.
