Four Seasons Theme Of Bridal Shower

I’ve enjoyed my poinsettia for seven months and the red “leaves” were still full and beautiful, but young sprouts had begun to grow so I pruned them down to the lower branches (saving some new growth). Now they should branch out and in October I’ll begin to cover them every day to keep them in the dark until the last of November when the red should begin to show again, hopefully in time for Christmas.

A bridal shower was given for my great- grandniece Sunday afternoon at their church in Siloam Springs. Four tables were decorated with a season of the year theme. Before Caitlyn opened her many gifts, each of the four hostesses read a comparison of each season to each “season of their married life” — very entertaining. The wedding of Shadoe Patrick Vanatta and Caitlyn Marie Cleek is to be July 20 at 7 p.m. in the Sager Creek Community Church.

Fewer voters turned out in Lincoln for the fire department voting than any other communities, whether because of less interest or the fact that it wasn’t advertised. Adding the fire insurance payment to the property tax will be less trouble for all — no separate bill in the mail for one thing. Our fire department should be supported by everyone, for our protection. July is humor month, so …. The minister announced that admission to the church social would cost $6 per person.

“However,” he said, “if you’re over 65, the price will only be $5.50.

Happy birthday to Danny Butler, Joyce Snodgrass, Effie Fulnechek, Garrett Bush, Barbara Atha, Patsy Wright.

A very special greeting to Leta Childers, who will be 101 on July 20.

Remember recycling next Monday.
