Two Candidates File For Prairie Grove School Board

Two candidates have filed to run for Position 4 on the Prairie Grove School Board while in Farmington and Lincoln, only one person is running for the open seat.

The deadline to file as a school board candidate was noon, July 9. The school election will be held Sept. 17.

Lincoln School Board President Dax Moreton filed to run for re-election to represent Zone 4.

Farmington School Board member Travis Warren filed to run for Position 1. Warren was appointed to Position 1 in May when former board member Wesley Stevens resigned before the end of his fiveyear term.

Bart Orr and Casie Ruland both filed to run for Position 1 on the Prairie Grove School Board. Board member Lanny Rice is not running for re-election.

Orr, a Prairie Grove native, has three children in the Prairie Grove School system and works for Arkansas Livestock Commission.

“I’ve been here all my life and want to do what I can to help in the betterment of the kids and the school,” Orr said.

Ruland is chief financial officer for Arkansas Egg Co. She graduated from Lincoln High School and she and her husband have lived in Prairie Grove since 2005. Her daughter attends Prairie Grove schools.

Ruland said she is running for school board because she wants to serve the community.

“I’m always doing something in the community,” Ruland said. “To serve the community at any level is a joy for me.”
