Lincoln Library To Close For Several Weeks

- Submitted by Dianna Payne LIBRARY DIRECTOR

Belinda, Sandy and I have been working hard to get the word out. We are closing the library. Now, I know this is going to be very inconvenient for everybody — and I am truly sorry about that. Our patrons are our family. Not only do we enjoy serving you all, but we love seeing you every week and visiting. We will miss all our patrons while we are packing and moving out of the Community Building. We have much work to do putting all our items in storage

Please be patient during this time of transition. The Arkansas Apple Festival is right around the corner and the holidays too when this building is used a lot for family reunions and parties. So in a way, this is good news!

Our last day open to the public is Aug. 9 and our final due date is Aug. 16. The drop box will still be out in the front for you to drop off all your items and we’ll check it every day for a while. Ms. Iva Sorrell, the library director at Prairie Grove, has agreed to handle our patrons’ needs while we are waiting on the new library. You can go by Prairie Grove or Farmington and check out their items, because your Washington County library card is good everywhere except the Fayetteville Public Library. As of this writing, the construction for our new library is right on schedule. We are very pleased about this. I am hoping the weeks will go by quickly and then we will have our brand new library open for everyone to enjoy from now on.

If you have time, come by and say “goodbye” because we’re moving. And as always, if you have any questions, please come by or call and just ask us.
