New Van Trips Planned For Center

- Lincoln Senior Center SHIRLEY METZER Center Reporter

Wow, the humidity is terrific. And then comes the beautiful rain. How blessed we are lately. My friend from Kansas said there was baseball-sized hail in McPherson and Hutchinson. We can be thankful we didn’t get that. The weather people are predicting clear and cooler for Thursday for my trip up there. God always rides with me, so I imagine He will be happier for that too, but I am sure He dreads that long drive with this crazy old lady.

Since you are reading this on Wednesday morning, make a note to run down to the center and pick up some of Tina’s specialty homemade cinnamon rolls on Friday morning, You will be glad that you did. They are delicious and your donation goes to the Meals On Wheels program at the senior center.

Remember that Bingo starts at noon now instead of 12:15 p.m. Regular programs and activities continue on a regular basis. I am looking forward to the new van trips they have started — Precious Moments, Gentry Safari and the factory where they make the bluebirds. I want to see that. I didn’t know where they came from until I moved down here. This is a whole new world from Salina, Kan. When the kids told me that Walmart was just down the road and I ended up driving 25 miles, I thought now wait a minute. In Kansas when we say just down the road, it is only a few blocks, within walking distance in fact.

The girls are still working on an afghan the Lincoln Senior Center will be raffling off during the Arkansas Apple Festival and it is beautiful. It is called a flower garden and a very interesting pattern it is. I am still enjoying the one I won last year.

The Tops group still meets on Tuesday mornings.
