Wishing Longtime Employee Happy Retirement

- MARIE ROY IS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF LINCOLN AND HAS WRITTEN FOR THE ENTERPRISELEADER FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS.

I’ve never cared much for change, though sometimes it might be for the better, except — usually when a business changes hands, “there will be no changes” — familiar last words.

Then there is the change when a special friend moves away, but we are thankful for “Ma Bell.” When trusted employees of different businesses retire, their care and serving , their very presence is missed, a change is sometimes hard to accept.

Now, Harps just won’t be the same without Hollis Barker. I guess we took for granted his smile and ready willingness to serve. Twenty-five years is a long time to serve as he has and I’m sure there are hundreds (or thousands?) who wish him a long and happy retirement.

discovered that ballpoint pens wouldn’t work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, scientist spent a decade and 12 million dollars to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, under water, on almost any surface, including glass, and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300 degrees Celsius. The Russians used a pencil. Happy birthday to Ralph Mullins, Edna Tatum, Jack Moore, Kristen Cochran, Carolyn McDonald, Eloise Parker, Jay Norton, Sydni Ayers, Kirsten Koerner, Joe Huffaker, Bob Bush, Caitlyn Vanatta, George Schooler, Troy Bradley, Neal Reed.

Happy anniversary to Hollis and Verla Barker. Happy years, all. Remember recycling next Monday.
