Director Returns

- Submitted by Shirley Metzger LINCOLN SENIOR CENTER

Good morning, seniors. Well, the prodigal kid has returned again. I had a long trip back to Kansas this time and had great visits with my family and friends. My luck ran out though when I got back home.

Lightening had struck my trailer, and there was a water leak in my bathroom which ruined the floor, but I still count my blessings as it could be a lot worse and at least I have a roof over my head. I was thankful that I had the money to pay for the damages.

Came back to a busy senior center and am happy to see the director of the center, Sally Metcalf, is back to work after her long illness.

She looks great but still has several weeks to go before she is out of the woods. So stop by the center and wish her well. Please still keep her in your prayers. She also became another proud grandmother with Nathaniel’s new baby brother putting in an appearance.

There are great trips planned to the Washington County Fair on Aug. 29 and Precious Moments on Aug. 30. Be sure to get signed up for those fun trips.

Don’t forget the deli- cious cinnamon rolls on Friday mornings. Regular activities continue as do the meals each day.

A big thank you is in order to the family who donated $ 12,000 to the center to ensure Meals On Wheels will continue to feed the people of Lincoln who are needy and or unable to provide for themselves. What a wonderful service this is for this community.

We have a few needs here at the center if you feel the need to help out: a digital camera for taking pictures of activities going on, paper napkins, Styrofoam saucers and bowls, sturdy plastic forks, knives, spoons, coffee and creamer.

We certainly appreciate all the help.

Have a great week, keep smiling, keep healthy and God bless you and yours.
