Fall Weather Moves In With Apple Festival

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

Although Sept. 22 is the accepted beginning of autumn, I think Saturday, Oct. 5, the second day of the Apple Festival, really ushered in the season with rain and much cooler temperatures. Even though it has since been clear and sunny, the nights are really cool not above 70 degree days — my kind of weather.

After all that work on their float, the Sugar Hill Church children’s float didn’t make it to the parade. In that rain, the paper construction would have been soup. They were able to park it on the square Sunday afternoon and hand out candy to children and invitations to attend the church, also the hay ride from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday. There will be games, a message from the Bible, food and the big apple that was on the float, a pinata, more fun for the youngsters. All children are welcome to the gathering, sponsored by the church — this was planned instead of trick or treating. Remember this Saturday, Oct. 19.

The annual Myers family reunion is planned for this Saturday, all day, at the home of Charlie and Carol Pitts in Siloam Springs. All family members and friends are urged to attend the noon potluck meal and all- day visiting, games and camaraderie and plenty of photo shoots, and comparing those of former get-togethers.

Happy birthday to Sophie Uselton, Kendrick Bentley, Ruth Andrews, Darlene Cheatham, Herman Cox, Ashlee Wofford, Dalton Bradley, Andrew Moore, Ryan Cochran.

Happy anniversary to David and Amy Smith, Jim and Rebecca Ayers, David and Tammy England. Happy years all. Thought for today — There are always two choices, two paths to take; one is easy and its only reward is that it is easy. — Anonymous.
