Cincinnati Church Closing Sad News To Share

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

It seems there is always so much bad news daily that we have become accustomed to hearing of it — wrecks, abuse, murder, floods, storms, fires, but the one in Wednesday’s paper really jumped out at me. It was sad to read of the closing of the church in Cincinnati — this in a town where there once were two churches.

Now the faithful few must drive to Lincoln or Siloam Springs for worship services. The church building has been turned over to the Old Union Cemetery Association and is to be used for funerals and weddings.

The Cincinnati community residents continue to care for their own. A chili supper fundraiser is planned for Nov. 9, a benefit to help defray medical expenses for Marty McReynolds who has had multiple surgeries and other expenses. More on this later.

The Cincinnati Fire Department Auxiliary members have compiled a 2014 calendar, which is for sale for $10.

Funds will be used for community activities. Alternate pages on the calendars are not the usual flowers or animals. They are photos of barns in the surrounding area. Now, “A Sure Cure” A man went into a drugstore and asked the pharmacist if he could give him something for the hiccups. The pharmacist reached out and slapped the man’s face.

“Why did you do that?” the man sputtered

“Well, do you have the hiccups now?” he asked.

“No, but my wife is out in the car and I’m pretty sure she still does.”

Happy birthday to Taylor Bradley, Gerald Sparks, Reba Tittle, Jana Bennett, Josh Myers, Austin and Braden Myers ( twins), Courtney Madewell, Danny Rigsbee.

Happy anniversary to Jack and Nicci Patrick, Nathan and Kristin Cochran. Happy years, all. Remember recycling next Monday, Oct. 28. MARIE ROY IS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF LINCOLN AND HAS WRITTEN FOR THE ENTERPRISELEADER FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS.
