Lincoln Seniors Cap Season At Home

LINCOLN — The Lincoln senior girls defeated U.S. 62 rival, Prairie Grove, 25-12,1825,13-25,25-13,15- 8, on Oct. 8, then dropped their final home match to Berryville on Thursday.

“We came out hard swinging against Prairie Grove and won the first game,” said Lincoln coach Adrian Risley.

Prairie Grove then took the next two games and had a chance to end the match in the fourth game.

“The girls got their heads down a little bit in the third game,” Risley said,

Lincoln then turned the tables to get back in the match, winning game four, 25-13, by the opposite score from their loss in game three.

The Lady Wolves then claimed the match and a sixth seed in the district tournament at Farmington this week with a solid 15-8 victory on game five.

“In the last set, we kept it up, kept our momentum and won,” Risley said.

Risley said more than half the team is participating in the new FCA program and there are plans to keep the huddle going after the season ends.

“Hopefully it grows, they are asking for more, more, more. They enjoy it,” Risley said.

On Oct. 15, Lincoln lost to Berryville in three straight games. 25-10,25-18,27-25.

“We came out knowing Berryville is one of the best in the conference. We played hard and I couldn’t ask for anything different. I’m proud our girls were ready for such a hard challenge on their last night at home,” Risley said.

“What I love about this team is even though we lost the first two games, we came out and played hard. To me, that showed we could compete with anybody in the conference.”
