Churches To Host Thanksgiving Dinners
After enjoying the many colors of autumn leaves, we were treated Sunday morning to another beautiful sight — lawns and pastures were literally white instead of green because of heavy frost. The sight brought to mind one of my many remembrances of childhood. My dad called such heavy frosts, “young snow.”
Members of the Sugar Hill church plan to have Thanksgiving dinner this Sunday, Nov. 17. Everyone is invited for a day of worship and fellowship. Sunday school is at 10, morning worship at 11 and the dinner at noon, followed by music and singing in the afternoon. Hopefully there will be as many musicians present as were at the recent homecoming celebration.
Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln is hosting its annual Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 14, with serving beginning at 5 p.m.
A Blonde
A blonde female police officer pulls over a blonde in a convertible sports car for speeding and asks the blonde for her driver’s license.
The blonde driver searches through her purse in vain. Finally she asks, “What does it look like?”
The blonde police officer tells her, “It’s that thing with your picture on it.”
The driver searches for a few more seconds, pulls out her compact, opens it and sure enough sees herself. She hands the compact to the blonde officer.
After a few seconds looking at the compact, the blonde cop rolls her eyes, hands the compact back to the driver and says, “If you would have told me you were a police officer when I first pulled you over we could have avoided this whole thing.”
I wonder why so many blonde (and mother-in-law) jokes? We’ll just laugh with them, with an “attitude of gratitude.” I’m fortunate to be a mother-in-law to my two other children.
Happy birthday to Dolly Myers, Deby Bailey, Don Griscom, Teresa Pitts.
Happy anniversary to Chris and Kim Brock.
