Veterans Serving Breakfast, Lunch
If you haven’t thanked a veteran lately, you have a chance to every Friday morning, as well as enjoying a treat for yourself.
Local V. F.W. members now have a bus equipped to serve the public. Each Friday morning until Dec. 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., they plan to park on the west side of Lincoln’s downtown square and serve biscuits and gravy, toast and jelly for breakfast; later, spicy hot dogs and other treats. What could be better these cool mornings than hot chocolate and coffee. You’ll not only enjoy breakfast but know you are supporting veterans as they continue helping others. They are raising money for high school seniors’ scholarships.
Sunday was another full day of worship and fellowship at the Sugar Hill Church — a full house for morning worship and the Thanksgiving dinner. I don’t know how they did it — after such a huge meal, but nine musicians including visitors James McKinney, Heath Reed, Ronnie Rinehart, all gave us two full hours of enjoyment again. Thank you all and welcome back.
For those with gluten intolerance, try Rice Thins, a cracker as near to saltines as I have found. They come in three different flavors. My favorite is white cheddar. They are baked, not fried, cholesterol-free and low-fat. A bowl of gluten-free tomato soup and rice thins — great on a cold day.
They say, “Let the wind blow the leaves away,” but one day wind is from north, the next day south, so where will they end up?
Happy birthday to Bill Bradley, Tubby Shannon, Jim Morris, Denise Mounce, Linc Brandley, Amy White, Glenn Braly, Oleta Danforth, James Myers, Jesse King, Lillian Nash.
Happy anniversary to Edwin and Janet Roy, Leon and Jeanine Tucker.
Happy years, all.
