Lincoln Senior Center Plans Party, Dinner

- Lincoln Senior Center SHIRLEY METZGER Center Reporter

Happy Thanksgiving, seniors. When you are reading this, God willing, I will be in Kansas spoiling my new little greatgrandson and enjoying my great-granddaughter as well as my sister and her family, other family members and friends.

As we await the birthday of another very special baby, our Lord and Savior, Jesus, it is an exciting time of the year and a fun time at the center.

I am not sure how many have ever attended a “dirty Santa party” but you need to mark a calendar for Dec. 23 at 1 p. m. and join us at the center. “Dirty Santa” is just a fun game of getting gifts and then someone else gets a bigger number and they can “steal” it from you. It is so much fun and I hope my granddaughter is out of school so I can take her with me as she loves it too. And this isn’t just for seniors, if you have family members visiting, bring them along for the fun. All you have to do is bring a gift that cost no more than $10, wrap it and mark it for male or female. There will be refreshments and lots of fun and laughs.

A few days before that party, a Christmas dinner will be served at the center. I’ll get you the date on that. Regular activities continue along with delicious meals every day.

We really need a person to deliver Meals on Wheels on Mondays, so if you can donate an hour or so of your time once a week, we sure would like to have you. And do you know how fulfilling it is to visit with those folk. Sometime a Meals on Wheels deliverer is the only person that person will see all day or maybe all week. They are so happy to get a hot meal and know that someone truly cares for them. So open your heart and start the New Year on a new note.

Have a wonder - ful week, keep smiling, keep healthy and God bless you and yours .
