Holiday Dinners Continue

It seems the news of an approaching winter storm is in competition with news of Thanksgiving or Black Friday sales. Monday, I talked to people who were hurrying to stock up before the expected storm comes Thursday. Recently, we had had two such storms forecast and neither made it this far, so are we “due” one?

Some friends who drove in from west Texas the day before Thanksgiving were pulling a big trailer, and when they arrived, 6 inches of snow were still on the trailer. That made enough snow in our area for snowballs and no snow falling anywhere near.

November went by so fast, birthday and anniversary slipped up on me, the first of December. With all the usual autumn activities, there were the big dinners, one at church, the annual family get together at Johnny and Anna’s, with the usual “enough for an army” food, and the popular, enjoyable music jam session at both places.

Though it was in December, another Thanksgiving dinner was in the home of Jerry and Judy Bradley, when the Bradley brothers and their families fathered for their annual reunion and I was honored with an invitation to attend. The main center of attention was our darling Sophia, granddaughter of Don and Diana.

And now, Christmas dinners. Sugar Hill Church feast is planned for Dec. 15.

Elise Hanger just recovered from a broken ankle, recently fell again and was to stay in therapy through November. She still receives cards at her usual address in Warsaw, Va.

Happy birthday greetings to Marilyn Tate, Christine Albright, Payton Myers, Tyler Hudson, Chad Chambliss, Cole Umberson, Lex Bradley, Mark Martsching.

Happy anniversary to J.C. and Christine Albright.

Happy years, all.
