Betty Lou

Payne Abercrombi­e

Betty Lou Payne Abercrombi­e, 67, a resident of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Dec. 8, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e. She was born April 16, 1946, in Stilwell, Okla., the daughter of William Harold and Lena Belle Denton Payne.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Carolyn Sue Payne Brown.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Wayne Abercrombi­e; two sons, Anthony Wayne Abercrombi­e and his wife Rewa and Bradley Dale Abercrombi­e and his wife Liz; one sister, Kathy Mae Farmer; one brother, Billy Wayne Payne; two grandchild­ren, Austin Cole Abercrombi­e and Zackary Wayne Abercrombi­e.

The family received friends on Dec. 12 at Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove, Ark.

J. Richard Sturgeon

J. Richard Sturgeon, 85, a long time resident of Caney, Kan., most recently living in Lincoln, Ark., passed away Dec. 8, 2013, at the Willard Walker Hospice in Fayettevil­le, Ark. He was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Richard Harold and Beulah Emmaline (Gibson) Sturgeon. He married Ella Mae Hinshaw and they later divorced. Then he married Gloria (Milner) Spaid.

J.R. graduated from Ames High School in Ames, Okla. He was an avid horseman and was a member of the Oil Capital and Turley Round-up Clubs near Tulsa, Okla. He enjoyed training and showing horses. He worked as an off-set printer operator during his career and taught off-set printing at Tri-County Vo-Tech in Bartlesvil­le, Okla., and Indian Meridan Vo-Tech in Stillwater, Okla. He earned a degree from Oklahoma State University later in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Gerald Sturgeon, and his wife, Gloria.

He is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Christian (Mike) of Manhattan, Kan., Sandra Higgins (David) of Lincoln, Ark., and Jeanette McKinzie (Ed) of Conroe, Texas; step-children, Bill Spaid (Luanna) of Stillwater, Okla., Patty Young (David) of Caney, Kan.; seven grandchild­ren, two step-grandchild­ren and 11 great-grandchild­ren; two sisters, Judy Blair (G.) Of Carthage, Texas, and Joyce Collins (Ken) of Abilene, Texas.

A memorial service is being planned for January, 2014, and will be announced at a later date.

Marie Denise Evans

Marie Denise Evans, 56, a resident of Morrow, Ark., passed away Dec. 10, 2013, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayettevil­le. She was born March 24, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Horace and Marceline Allen Evans.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Gary Evans.

Survivors include two sons, Kole Krause of Tulsa, Okla., and Joshua Evans of Morrow; one brother, Gregory Evans; three sisters, Mylena Evans-Alred, Myra Eppright and Mona Johnson.

Memorial service was held Dec. 12, 2013, at Mount Pleasant Holiness Church in Morrow.

Arrangemen­ts were under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove, Ark.
