Weather Changes Holiday Events

To paraphrase an old saying, the best laid plans of women or men are sometimes followed by “it might have been.” Which makes us think of the pre-Christmas plans for parades and other activities that had to be postponed or canceled due to the winter weather.

Another disappointment for some was the snow was so dry there was less moisture as needed. My grandsons were sad because they couldn’t have a snowball fight. The snow was so dry they couldn’t make snowballs.

Two pictures in the newspaper brought humor to the situation.

One, a Razorback stat- ue’s back was covered with snow, hence the title, “Pig In A Blanket.” Another showed, “Sidewalk Closed.”

Though winter hasn’t officially arrived, it feels and looks like it and persimmon seeds are shaped like spoons, a sign that we will be scooping snow; and the woolly worms are black and heavily woolly.

It’s colder weather, so heat up the oven:

Good for potluck dishes or anytime.

A thought — People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between New Year and Christmas.
