- STAFF REPORT

In 2012, Scott and Cassie Davis of Prairie Grove and their two young children were named the Washington County Farm Family of the Year.

The couple has received another honor.

They are the recipients of Arkansas Farm Bureau’s 2013 Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement award.

Farm Bureau presented the honor at its 79th annual convention in Little Rock on Dec. 5. Cassie Davis, 30, accepted the award for the family.

Scott Davis remained on the farm because of the impending winter storm.

Scott Davis, 34, is a second- generation dairy farmer who has 275 cows on 450 acres. The couple has two daughters, Lily, 7, and Ella, 1. The family’s land is called Davis River- view Farms and the farm is located outside Prairie Grove on Pearson Ranch Road.

“Scott grew up doing this. It’s in his blood,” Cassie Davis said. “It’s a huge passion for him. I love him and I love our family, so I’m going to love what he loves. He works extremely hard. He puts his whole heart and soul into dairying and into his family.”

Cassie Davis is chairwoman of the Washington County Farm Bureau and chairwoman of the Women’s Committee with Farm Bureau.

The Women’s Committee won its sixth consecutive Outstanding County Women’s Program award and Davis accepted the award on behalf of the committee. The Farm Bureau honors the county Women’s Committee that exhibits exemplary support of its county organization, activities and goals.

The Davises won a $35,000 GM gift card to use toward the purchase of a new GM vehicle. They also received an expense- paid trip to San Antonio.
