A Noel Poem In Doggerel
POKING JUST A LITTLE RHYME FRIVOLITY AT HOLIDAY TIME
Christmas time is here, y’all
The time of the season to have a ball.
It’s an old habit passing out good cheer
And hope for the best in the coming new year
•••
It’s time to trim the Yule tree
No one better politician than Gov. Mike Bebee
Heading into his final fiscal budget session soon
His approval ratings are so high it makes folks swoon
•••
Sleigh bells ring, as leather slaps the horse’s hide
Uvalde Lindsey and Jon Woods new to a state senate ride
Let’s not forget Cecile Bledsoe and Jim Hendren, too
Have these Red/ Blue divisions created quite a zoo?
•••
On Christmas Eve let’s hope it’s quiet as a mouse,
David Whitaker and Charlene Fite did well in the House.
Keep the kids tucked deep down in the bedding
No star shone brighter than State Rep. Greg Leding.
•••
Let’s hope for clear skies with a hint of new snow
Not to forget Charlie Collins and his college gun show,
Or Randy Alexander’s bill on selling raw milk.
It grabbed lots of jokes of the legislative ilk.
•••
We see shopper’s rush by as winter winds blew
Michael Neal of Springdale, he’s also brand new
Out on the sleigh, don’t excite us — spare us
Leave all that kind of talk to Rep. Justin Harris
•••
It’s time to raise a glass of bubbly holiday cheer
For our new Circuit Judge Cristi Beaumont, Hear! Hear!
And here comes Judge Mark Lindsey, back to the bench,
Don’t let the holiday nay- sayers act like the Grinch
•••
This is the season of the red-coated wonder St. Nick
We miss Judge Kim Smith, who retired so quick
We remember the longago shepherd’s shout of glory
And j udge s , Stacy Zimmerman, Joanna Taylor and Beth Storey
••• We, again, repeat the Biblical shouts of glory,
Not forgetting retiring Circuit Judge Bill Storey.
Appointed to the bench, Judge Martin (Just call me Doug!) He’s happy to be back in Fayetteville (So give him a hug!)
••• We are calling for Heavenly peace and good cheer
Coach Bret Beliemna needs Hog fans’ patience, not jeers
Coach Mike Anderson’s team stands tall and looks to win
If only we can get back to “March Madness” again
••• Now it’s time to ring the Church house bell
Remembering area mayors, we know ’em so well
Rob Hulse, Sonny Hudson and Ernie Penn
They all work hard and are indeed fine men
••• At the table there will be some sweets and pecan pie.
State Democrats and Republicans give each other the eye
No bigger race in 2014 looms quite as large
As Washington County Judge, to see who is in charge
•••
Here comes the presents! Boxes and crates
All our gubernatorial candidates talk about tax rates
The GOP field of Asa and Deborah and Curtis, you see
Allows one Democrat, Mike Ross, to run opponent free
•••
In any list like this – I’ll miss a few friends
Only next year can I include your name to make amends
To t hose whom I missed, they have only say “Whew!”
Until next year, Merry Christmas to you!
