Strong Winds Do Damage

Cabin fever, a term not listed in the dictionary but separated. A cabin is listed as a confined space; cramp. One definition of fever is “restless motion ...” So, put together, you have it, as in recently, with the confining weather.

We are sorry for those outside workers who have no excuse for the luxury of the “fever,” but the housewife has no time for such, as there is always plenty to do. I resorted to one of my favorite pastimes, I started a new quilt top; and now the sun is shining, I can see dust which I missed when I thought I was dusting during the sunless days.

The wind Sunday was stronger than I realized. One neighbor said a tree top was blown onto the garden fence. Just some bent wire, but lots of cleanup.

Ano ther neighbor reported a barn door blown off and wedged in the doorway. He managed to get it up, but will need help to get it back on track.

Members of the Sugar Hill Church don’t consider their Christmas dinner “canceled.” They plan to have one in the near future, weather permitting, which will be a real fellowship event. Senior Moments? An elderly lady called 911 to report her car had been broken into. Hysterically, she told the dispatcher, “They’ve stolen the stereo, steering wheel, brake pedal and even the accelerator!”

The dispatcher said, “Stay calm. An officer is on the way.”

A few minutes later, the officer called in — “Disregard, she got in the back seat by mistake.”
