Prairie Grove Officials Become Certified
Arkansas Municipal League congratulated Prairie Grove City Council members Tony Cunningham and Doug Bartholomew, recent graduates of the league’s Voluntary Certified Continuing Education Program. The two aldermen completed 21 hours of continuing education to receive their municipal officials’ certification.
To increase municipal officials’ basic knowledge of local governance, the Municipal League offers an annual curriculum of core courses and continuing education courses.
To maintain the certification, city officers must complete six hours of continuing education classes each year. Mayor Sonny Hudson completed his six hours of continuing education in 2013 and received a certificate for that coursework.
Numerous mayors, aldermen, city managers and directors representing municipalities from across the state completed 21 hours of study over the course of a year in subjects such as procedural rules, municipal land use, planning and zoning, budgeting, methods of effective leadership and more.
The program continues in 2014 with classes held at the League’s North Little Rock headquarters and in June at the League’s Annual Convention in Little Rock.

The League has a voluntary membership comprised of all 500 cities and towns in the state and was created in 1934 to assist cities with information and representation in the public affairs of our state and nation.
