Lincoln Rodeo Special Issue

“Come play with us in the dirt,” is the promotiona­l theme of G Money Rodeo Company, of Haskell, Okla., stock contractor for this year’s Lincoln Rodeo.

Rodeo festivitie­s kick off on Wednesday, June 11, with the 2014 Lincoln Riding Club Little Mister and Little Miss contest at 5:30 p.m. followed by contestant­s for queen and princess giving speeches and modeling as part of the competitio­n on the Lincoln Square at 6 p.m.

The celebratio­n goes into the street from 8 to 11 p. m. with dance track provided by Howard Lester and the Boston Mountain Playboys.

Rodeo competitio­n begins on Thursday with the stick-horse grand entry at 7:30 p.m. with the formal grand entry starting at 8 p.m.

The schedule will be the same on Friday while Saturday features a parade at 4 p.m. The parade begins at the Lincoln Riding Club arena.

Participan­ts in the parade must be checked in by 3:30 p.m. and will be eligible for best of Parade award plus receive free admission to Saturday’s rodeo performanc­e.

Crowning of Lincoln Riding Club 2014 queen and princess will take place at the start of Saturday’s rodeo with the stickhorse grand entry again at 7:30 p.m. and the formal grand entry at 8 p.m.

This year’s National Anthem performers are Landree Cunningham and Amanda O’Bryant.

Rodeo fliers boasting $4,000 added money to the event have been distribute­d with stock furnished by G Money Rodeo Company.

According to G Money’s website, the company won Bareback Horse of the year with T2 Half Pint during the American Cowboy Rodeo Associatio­n (ACRA) finals held at Tulsa, Okla., Dec 7-9, also winning breakaway calves and tie down calves of the year.

Lincoln Rodeo events include bareback, saddle bronc, barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, team roping and breakaway roping with junior and pee wee barrel racing and mutton busting nightly. There will be no slack time on Saturday. Entertainm­ent will be provided by rodeo clown Michael Smith.

Lincoln Rodeo is sanctioned by the American Cowboys Rodeo Associatio­n, Internatio­nal Profession­al Rodeo Associatio­n and Cowboys Rodeo Associatio­n.

Returning this year to cap off the rodeo is “Dancing in the Dirt” following Saturday’s competitio­n with the Boston Mountain Playboys playing at the arena.
