Chamber Donates Money Earned At Car Show

- By Pat Harris

LINCOLN — Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce members met June 7 for a regular meeting at the Arkansas Country Doctor Museum.

The success of the Chicken Rod Nationals car show was discussed.

“We did pretty good,” said Jennifer Whitney, secretary.

Though the Chamber kept some money toward the 2015 car show, members set $768 each to be given to the Lincoln Senior Center and GRACE Place, an orga- nization that helps the needy with groceries, resources and clothing.

Joe Absher with the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce attended the meeting and invited the Lincoln Chamber to set up a booth for Fayetteville’s Teacher Appreciation Expo being held Aug. l8.

Whitney said the Lincoln Chamber would accept the invitation.

Members talked about beautification along U.S. 62. “We don’t know yet what we’ll do but we want to do something,” Whitney said.

The Chamber adopted part of U.S. 62 and will be keeping their area clean.

Whitney announced State Rep. Charlene Fite had gotten a $16,712 grant approved for a new park, located on North Street.

The grant will be used for more equipment, such as more swings and will include a sign in honor of past Chamber president Kenneth Reeves, who passed away unexpectedly last year.

Doris Spindler, owner of Burger Land restaurant, announced to Chamber members that she plans to run for Lincoln mayor in the November election.
