Hulse To Run For Third Term

- By Pat Harris

LINCOLN — Rob Hulse announced Friday he’s running for a third term as Lincoln mayor.

Hulse filed to run again on Monday at the Washington County Courthouse after securing the needed signatures.

“I’m ready to proceed to another four years as Lincoln mayor,” Hulse said. “The people I have talked to say they have seen what we’ve done and they are excited about the progress and vision we’ve had for the city. So we’re moving forward.”

Many projects such as a new 10,000 square-feet library, new police offices, new sidewalks, a walking trail at Southside Park and the new Bumble Bee City Park on the north side of town have happened during Hulse’s second term as mayor.

Other recent improvements include an upgraded computer system bringing all city employees together on the same network, which improved communication. Cameras also have been added around town and at Lincoln Lake Park for security. An upgraded wastewater treatment plant was completed in order to meet state regulations on phosphorous levels.

Hulse said the reason he

decided to run again for the office is that he wants to continue to see things move forward in the city where he grew up. He has been mayor in Lincoln for eight years.

“We have made great progress over the past years,” Hulse said. “And I want to continue our moving forward and improving the quality of life for Lincoln citizens.

“There are two big items coming up that we’re working on,” Hulse said. “We’re planning to build a Veterans Memorial park wall and we’re working closely with the school district to establish an after- school Adventure Club. We’re very excited about this. We’ll be helping kids and honoring our veterans.”

Hulse said he appreciates the city council members, city employees and citizens who have shared his proactive vision for the city since he’s been in office. “They have all worked hard and they are appreciated.”

Hulse and his wife, Rhonda, have three children, Kristen, a registered nurse, Spencer, a senior at the University of Central Arkansas and Payton, who is enrolled at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville as a freshman.
