Freshman Academy

Farmington Freshman Academy will host an orientatio­n beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, for for all Freshman. Following orientatio­n, parents/students are invited to attend an Open House from 5-6 p.m.

Farmington Car Show

A Farmington Car Show to benefit the Farmington Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at 4 Star Auto, 290 East Main St. Registrati­on begins at 7 a.m., with a $25 entry fee. The show will include food and entertainm­ent for the whole family. 4 Star Auto is giving away a 2005 Iron Horse chopper and a $10 donation will give a chance to win the chopper, valued at $55,000. The chopper will be on site at the Car Show.

PRAIRIE GROVE

Chamber Golf Tournament

Prairie Grove Chamber 4-person golf tournament will be held Thursday, Aug. 21 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Cost is $320 per team. Hole sponsorshi­p is $75. Lunch will be provided at noon. For more informatio­n, contact Dale Reed, 479-846-7248.

Doggy Pool Party

Second annual Soggy Doggy Pool Party will be held 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23 at Prairie Grove Aquatic Center. All proceeds will benefit Friends of Prairie Grove Pound. Admission is $10/ dog, humans are free. The party will include a summer-themed costume contest. Best costume will win a prize basket. Tooley’s BBQ will have food available for purchase and other vendors and rescues will be there. All dogs must be vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Only dogs will be allowed to play in the pool, no humans are allowed in the pool, per city of Prairie Grove ordinance.

Fundraiser

A benefit/fundraiser for Jack Kidd will be held on Aug. 16, at 6 p.m. at the American Legion in Prairie Grove. Jack had no insurance to pay his final expenses and had been unable to work for quite some time. The community is coming together to help his children with this need. There will be music, food, a pie and cake auction and many other items to auction. For questions or pick up of items, call Betty at 479-2251774.

Spaghetti Supper

New Sulpher Freewill Baptist Women’s Auxiliary’s annual Spaghetti Supper and Auction is set for Saturday, Aug. 16, with food served from 5-6:30 p.m., gospel music with Saved By Grace, followed by auction (quilts, pies, other items) at 7 p.m. Adults: $7, children 4-10 years: $4, 3 years and younger: no charge.
