Planning Under Way For Apple Festival

Arkansas Apple Festival is set for Oct. 3-5 and planning is under way for the youth talent contest and festival parade.

The festival Youth Talent Contest is now taking entries for this year’s event, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, beginning at 6 p.m., at the American Legion building across from the town square.

There are two age divisions, ages 8-12 and 13-17. There is no entry fee. A trophy and $100 prize will be awarded to the winner of each division, and $75 will go to the 1st runner-ups. Talent will include vocalists, instru- mentalists [piano is not available] and dancers.

Arkansas Apple Festival Parade applicatio­ns are available at the Lincoln Public Library, located on the downtown square. For more informatio­n call 824-3294. Parade participan­ts will be meeting at the Lincoln Middle Gymnasium with parade lineup beginning at 8:45 a.m. with judging at 9 a.m. and parade starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Additional features at the festival will include arts and crafts vendors, entertainm­ent, food and music. Hours for the festival will be from 9 a.m. each day until 3 p.m. Fresh apple cider and apple dumpling will be available.
