Lady Tigers Split Games
SPRINGDALE — The Prairie Grove Lady Tigers ( 3- 2, 2-1) dropped a conference contest to the Shiloh Saints Sept. 9 at Springdale, but rebounded with a conference victory over the Pea Ridge Blackhawks on Sept. 11 at the Tigers’ Den volleyball complex.
The Tige r s s t r u ggled to find an offensive groove against the Saints, fa l l ing to Shiloh in three games ( 25-15, 25-19, 25-13).
“What I’m most frustrated about is that the score does not reflect how hard we played,” said Tiger coach Lindsey Layes. “We hustled and had some great saves and it was a fun game.”
In game one of their contest with the Saints, Marie Gregson had 2 kills and a block, while Kelsey Webb tallied a kill, ace and a block, however the Saints went on to claim the first set win 25-15.
In the second contest the Tigers and the Saints tied each other 10 times, the last coming on a Webb dink which knotted the contest at 17-17.
The Saints then closed out the set with an 8-2 run, securing the game two win.
Webb finished the second set with 3 kills and a block. Landry Laird helped out the cause with 3 digs and Jaelyn Kilburn finished with 2 aces.
With all the momentum on their side, the Saints were able to cruise to a 25-13 game three win which completed the sweep. Webb finished the third set with 2 blocks and a kill while Laird tallied 2 digs.
The Tigers turned their fortunes around when they capped off their week with a three-game sweep (25-22, 25- 10, 25- 15) of the Pea Ridge Blackhawks.
The Tigers finished
the contest against the Blackhawks with 10 aces and Layes Lauded the play of Riley Gerwig, who had 6 blocks and Bonnie Kragel, who ended the contest with 6 kills.
On Sept. 16, Prairie Grove overpowered Gentry at the net with numerous kills by Gregson and Gerwig.
Set scores were 25- 13, 25-16 and 25-16, with Prairie Grove sweeping the match.
