Weekends Good For Celebrations

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist MARIE ROY IS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF LINCOLN AND HAS WRITTEN FOR THE ENTERPRISELEADER FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS.

Weekends are good times for celebrations and it’s fun to take advantage of that time. This Sunday, Nov. 2, friends and family of Charlie Washington plan to celebrate his 90th birthday with him at the Cincinnati Fire Department community building form 2-4 p.m. He is a retired mail carrier, so there are countless numbers of friends who remember his service. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and the expected huge crowd will show up.

Saturday, Oct. 18, 43 friends and family members gathered at the home of Charlie and Carol Pitts in Siloam Springs for their annual Myers family reunion. Attendance was down due to illness, meetings, elk hunting, working, children’s activities and more, but the food and camaraderie were as plentiful as ever. Welcomed visitors were Joe and Mary Bowden of Fort Gibson, Okla., Linda Hahn of Springdale, Mark and Melissa Petty, Allissa, Lainy, Landon, and their precious two-year-old charges, Aiden and Alexa Barbosa, all of Prairie Grove. It was another great time of memory making.

Sunday, there was very limited parking at Burger Land due to the huge crowd attending the medical bene- fit for LaWanda Hall. Owner Doris Spindler closes the business on Sundays but opened this time to help a needy friend. This is usual for her, as she serves free meals to the public on Thanksgiving, provides clothing to needy children and serves the community as well.

Happy birthday to Darrin Curtis, Jodi Huffaker, Danny Rigsbee, Courtney Madewell, Willy Williams, Carolyn Latta, Doug Moore, Kevin McGarra, Shawn Foley, Bill Wright.

Happy anniversary to Nathan and Kristen Cochran. Happy years, all.
